Neither Evil or good he walks the road set in front of him trying to follow the light of the emperor and doing what he sees as good in the emperors name.
He is a practical man making sure his possessions are well kept before he takes care himself.
Some of his own men have more than once been trying to kill him which makes him suspicious towards people he doesn’t know or people below the rank of sergeant.
He has executed so many people and killed so many in combat that death comes natural to him. He doesn’t fear death anymore and awaits his death with open arms, longing for the final sleep, caring little for his life only trying to find a way to redeem himself for the people he have killed.
Though hated by many he always made sure that the right honor came to the right man. Caring little for the glory boys trying to steal what his company he fought for.
Zealots of demonic gods
Castus was born among the higher families of Cadia and through his childhood he lived a good a life with his loving parents. But fate had another twist during a chaos invasion his parents were KIA (killed in action) and being the only one left of the family only the Imperium to take care of him. He was send to commissariat academy to become a commissar, the will of the emperor.
The time came and he became a graduate student with good grades. He was assigned to a new regiment on some foreign planet far away from his old home. The new regiment were given an easy assignment, to guard a planet far from any enemies. It seemed easy enough and combat wasn’t expected so when the invasion came they taken by complete surprise. They called for help from every place within distance.
Three weeks went by before help arrived. By then only two handful of soldiers were still fit for combat over a hundred wounded and deaths in the thousands. Among the wounded were Castus, a shrapnel had caught him in the left eye ruining his vision completely on it.
It was in that original regiment he had found friends, they had seen death and spat it in the eye. They would stay together for as long as possible. Most died over the years and the rest were retired from service due to too heavy wounds and to ruined bodies to proceed.
After they had been saved the regiment couldn’t muster even a fourth of what was needed even counting the surviving wounded, so the regiment was merged with hundreds of other troops like them before they were sent to their next mission. A lord general planed to clear out a segmentum for Chaos and had created a liberation fleet. The following 30 years would mark castus even more than his first mission had done though in his old days he had forgotten all but the first mission.
At the end of the campaign Castus had to execute a traitor, unfortunately the traitor had many friends even among the loyal and soon he found himself in the middle of a riot.
Surviving the riot he had to execute half of the men and send the rest of the rioters to penal legions. The last of the men loathed him for his actions and it didn’t get better when the executed traitor were found innocent. The rest of the men turned against him and he barely survived when commissariat storm troopers killed them.
After those incidents he never forgave himself but instead of showing it he became hollow and cruel.
